The Board - David Webster, Financial Director
As a Chartered Accountant who also has extensive corporate finance experience, David's skill set is particularly relevant in structuring investments, and in the establishment of reporting and control procedures.
After studying physics at university he joined Arthur Andersen in 1973 where he trained and worked in their business services division gaining broad experience of financial investigations, profit improvement and restructuring projects. In 1985 he became a partner specialising in advising companies in financial difficulty. Assignments typically included an objective assessment of the business and its prospects, help in defining and implementing a recovery programme where possible or acting as a receiver or administrator if insolvency offered the best outcome for financial stakeholders.
In 1989 David transferred to the newly formed corporate finance practice of Arthur Andersen. Here he worked on a broad range of public and private company transactions in the travel and leisure, manufacturing, distribution, business consultancy, commodities, finance, software and service industries. After four years as head of the North West Corporate Finance Group he left Arthur Andersen in 1994.
For the last 15 years David Webster has worked as an independent corporate finance consultant. He has advised on and arranged acquisitions, mergers, business sales, management buy-outs and the raising of finance for companies up to a transaction value of £200 million. Clients have often been small or growing companies with which David has worked actively for several years. For a small number of clients he has also taken on a broader advisory role to develop and implement strategies for the long term maximisation and realisation of shareholder value.
